Waynesboro Generals Alumni

Many ball players over the years have spent a summer playing ball in Waynesboro for the Generals before taking the next step to The Show even if it was just for a cup of coffee we are proud of them all.

Graham Ashcraft (2018): Drafted in the 6th round of the 2019 MLB Draft by the Cincinnati Reds. Current member of the Cincinnati Reds.


Greg Booker: Drafted in the 10th round of the 1981 MLB Draft by the San Diego Padres. Pitched in all or part of eight seasons in Major League Baseball, from 1983 until 1990.


Mike Brosseau (2015): Signed as a free agent with the Tampa Bay Rays. Current member of the Milwaukee Brewers.


Emil Brown (1993): Drafted in the 6th round of the 1994 MLB Draft by the Oakland A’s.  Made his Major League debut with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1997 and became the everyday center fielder during the 2001 season. Had a breakout season with the Kansas City Royals as their everyday right fielder in 2005.


Andy Cannizaro (1998): Drafted in the 7th round of the 2001 MLB Draft by the New York Yankees.


Chris Carter (2001): Drafted in the 17th round of the 2004 MLB Draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks. Played in the Majors with the Boston Red Sox (2008-2009) and the New York Mets (2010). Hit .263 with 4 homers and 24 RBI in 100 games (180 plate appearances) with the New York Mets in 2010.


Steve Fireovid (1975): Drafted in the 7th round of the 1978 MLB Draft by the San Diego Padres. Pitched in all or part of six seasons in the majors for five different teams between 1981 and 1992.


Lee Guetterman (1980): Drafted in the 4th round of the 1981 MLB Draft by the Seattle Mariners. Pitched in 13 seasons for four different teams (Seattle Mariners, New York Yankees, New York Mets, St. Louis Cardinals) between 1984 and 1996.


Brandon Inge (1996): Drafted in the 2nd round of the 1998 MLB Draft by the Detroit Tigers. Played 12 seasons with the Detroit Tigers, one with the Oakland Athletics and one with the Pittsburgh Pirates.


Erik Kratz (2000): Drafted in the 29th round of the 2002 MLB Draft by the Toronto Blue Jays. Current member of the New York Yankees.


Adam Liberatore (2007-2008): Drafted in the 21st round of the 2010 MLB Draft by the Tampa Bay Rays. Played in the Majors with the Los Angeles Dodgers (2015-2018).


Mike Lowell (2001): Drafted in the 20th round of the 1995 MLB Draft by the New York Yankees. Finished his 13 year career hitting .279 with 1,619 hits, 223 HR’s, and 952 RBI’s. 2007 World Series MVP.


Kirt Manwaring: Drafted in the 2nd round of the 1986 MLB Draft by the San Francisco Giants. Played in all or part of 15 seasons in the Majors for three different teams (San Francisco Giants, Houston Astros, Colorado Rockies) between 1987 and 1999. 1993 Gold Glove Award winner.


Tommy Manzella (2003): Drafted in the 3rd round of the 2005 MLB Draft by the Houston Astros. Hit .224 with 1 homer and 21 RBI in 90 games in parts of 2009 and 2010 with Houston. Signed as a free-agent by the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2014.


Patrick Mazeika (2013): Drafted in the 8th round of the 2015 MLB Draft by the New York Mets. Current member of the New York Mets.


Johnny Oates (1965-1966): Drafted in the 1st round (10th pick) of the 1967 MLB Draft by the Baltimore Orioles. Played 11 seasons in the majors with the Baltimore Orioles, Atlanta Braves, Philadelphia Phillies, Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees… Played in two World Series with the Dodgers (1977, 1978)… Managed four seasons with the Baltimore Orioles and seven seasons with the Texas Rangers… Named American League Manager of the Year in 1996… Also earned Sporting News A.L. Manager of the Year accolades in 1993… Inducted into both the Baltimore Orioles and Texas Rangers team Halls of Fame.


Scott Sizemore: Drafted in the 5th round of the 2006 MLB Draft by the Detroit Tigers. Played in all or part of 4 seasons in the Majors for three different teams (Detroit Tigers, Oakland A’s, New York Yankees).


Eric Stout (2012): Drafted in the 13th round of the 2014 MLB Draft by the Kansas City Royals. Current member of the Chicago Cubs.


Denny Walling (1975): Drafted in the 1st round of the 1975 MLB Draft by the Oakland Athletics, 1st overall. Finished his 18 year career hitting .271 with 799 hits.
